Chocolate Cherry Smoothie
Just in time for Valentine’s Day! Featuring tart cherries and creamy avocado, this smoothie is loaded with nutrition, but tastes like a chocolate cherry milkshake.
Cherries are a natural and powerful anti-inflammatory, especially beneficial for those with arthritis. Packed full of vitamins A, C, E, and minerals such as iron, copper, zinc, potassium, and manganese, cherries are an excellent fruit to help the body fight pain, inflammation and sports injuries. And as an added bonus, cherries are an excellent source of melatonin which is known to calm the nervous system and promote a solid nights sleep. This soothing effect on brain neurons makes cherries a great food choice for those who suffer from insomnia or for those who have high anxiety and stress in their lives. Cherries are also rich in fiber and are a great natural remedy for constipation.
- 2 cups almond milk, rice milk, coconut milk or water
- 2 cups organic spinach
- 2 cup frozen cherries
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
- 2 tablespoons hemp hearts
Combine all of the ingredients in a high-powered blender, and blend until completely smooth and creamy. Sprinkle with cacao nibs if desired and enjoy.
